About our Jet Boats

The jet boat was first born on the shallow snow fed rivers of the South Island of New Zealand. CWF (Bill) Hamilton invented a prototype in the early 1950´s which used an internal propeller (impeller) to suck in the water through a chamber and force it out through a moveable nozzle which provided powerful propulsion and incredible maneuverability.

Your Shotover Jet is custom designed and constructed to exacting specifications. The high performance 8.2 litre V8 engine generate 500hp and a massive jet unit thrusts 400 litres of water per second to propel these unique and highly maneuverable craft which skim the riverbed at 70 kmph and can operate in just 10 cm of water!
